MIAMI, FL. – October 10, 2015 – The BURGER KING McLAMORE℠ Foundation’s third annual beachside race, the BURGER KING℠ Beach Run, brought together more than 1,500 runners, walkers and spectators today in Miami Beach for a family fun-filled event, which included an oversized sand sculpture, a Family Fun Zone and an interactive play area. Since its inception, the event, which benefits South Florida high school students through the Foundation’s BURGER KING℠ Scholars program, has raised over $255,000 dollars.

Presented by the BURGER KING® brand, the event featured both a 5k and 10k course. Race participants made their way through picturesque Miami Beach. The top male finisher of the 10k was Scott Bowden with a time of 44 minues and 1 second and the top female finisher was Theresa Ascherman with a time of 42 minutes and 14 seconds. While the top male finisher of the 5k was Yannick Rinne with a time of 17 minutes and 20 seconds and the top female finisher was Katie Grinstead with a time of 21 minutes.

“I want to congratulate the BURGER KING℠ Beach Run participants who united for education and ran or walked in support of local students,” said Jill Granat, president, BURGER KING McLAMORE℠ Foundation. “Although the Foundation does many events in the community and giving back is part of the BURGER KING® Brand’s culture, this is undoubtedly our largest community event of the year.”

These unique, certified courses took race participants through Lummus Park, up Washington Avenue, passed the BK® WHOPPER® Bar, through the pedestrian-friendly Lincoln Road Mall and along the beach boardwalk with breathtaking ocean views as the backdrop. The new and extended 10K course took participants north along the boardwalk, and included a challenging trek on the beach. All race participants ended at the finish line, where a race after-party awaited, featuring a Family Fun Zone with interactive play zones, balloon artist, a hydration station with beverages and snacks, as well as live music and DJ entertainment.

The BURGER KING℠ Beach Run would not be possible without the support of several sponsors, including Restaurant Brands International; WTVJ/NBC6; Nestle Water; BeeFree Media; Horizon Media; WMIA-93.9FM and Rich’s Food.
